Westlake Chemical is an international manufacturer and supplier of petrochemicals, polymers, and fabricated building products, which are fundamental to various consumer and industrial markets. It operates through the Olefins and Vinyl segments. Westlake also produces the chlorine used in PVC, as well as caustic soda. Its petrochemicals include ethylene, ethylbenzene, and styrene—which are building blocks in plastics. Westlake produces about 40 billion pounds of product each year and is the second-largest producer of both PVC and Chlor-alkali in the world. TTF, which is controlled by the Chao family (Westlake’s founders), owns around 80% of Westlake. The US accounts for about 70% of the company’s total sales.
