Kirby Corporation is one of the largest inland tank barge operators in the US. Its fleet, operated by subsidiary Kirby Inland Marine, consists of over 1,000 barges with a transportation capacity of about 22 million barrels and about 285 inland towboats. The vessels are used to transport liquid bulk cargo: petrochemicals, crude and refined petroleum products, and agricultural chemicals. Its coastal operations transport petrochemicals, crude, and refined petroleum products to refineries, power plants, and storage terminals along the US coast and between islands in Hawaii. Kirby also offers diesel engine repair and overhaul services and parts for marine, oilfield, and power generation customers, and manufactures oilfield service equipment.
