Nasdaq is a global electronic marketplace for buying and selling securities. Nasdaq was created by the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), which is now known as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). The company’s global offerings are diverse and include trading and clearing across multiple asset classes, trade management services, fixed income and commodities trading and clearing (FICC), and Cash Equity Trading. NASDAQ-powered exchanges trade more than 3,390 companies worth approximately $22 trillion in market value, through instruments such as exchange-traded products (ETPs), equities, options, futures, derivatives, commodities, and structured products. The holding company operates exchanges around the world including in the US, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, and Finland. Domestic business accounts for the majority of Nasdaq’s revenue.
